Akihiro Higuchi, Sculpture, Objects
![]() The centre of Akihiro Higuchis work is the dealing of human beings with nature, especially with animals. Works like “Ausgestopfte Schlange” (stuffed snake) or “Reptil” (reptile) show almost lifesized animals made of ceramics or plastics which are dressed with knitted pullovers or which are related to fashionable clothes. The series “Collection” on the other hand shows moth, which are carefully framed behind glass and whose wings are colored with watercolour. So, the originally grey moth not only become generally beautiful butterflies, that receive their status for collectors only through the pattern of their wings, but the pattern Higuchi choses opens associativities to wallpapers and clothes-elements a person uses for decorating interieurs and the own body. In these works associativities to animals as a hunting-trophy and decoration of interieurs are ironically bound with questions of clothing and its significant function. |
